Fear

I'm scared. I'm scared of never having any money. I'm scared of the recession, there being no jobs, of not being able to make the bills and mortgages.

There's so much we don't do already. Nights out, holidays, home improvements, nice clothes. What's going to be next? Kids' shoes?

I'm scared of having to do crappy jobs to get by, but not being able to do even that because of childcare. I'm scared of my own unresourcefulness and laziness and inefficiency.

I'm scared of getting older and having no pension.
And finally, I'm scared that Ikea's going to finally arrive and I won't be able to afford to buy anything there.

  1. I don't think it's going to be that bad. There's so much hype over it the last two days.

  4. This post is brilliant.

I'm scared that I'm getting old.

I'm scared of losing my job.

I'm scared I look absurd quite a lot of the time.

I'm scared of how easy it is to drink whenever I start.

I'm scared my children will grow up and hate me because I wasn't there.

I'm scared of meeting new people because I can never know whether they like me because of the person I am or what I can get them.

I'm scared of never being happy ever again.

  5. yeesh.

I hope the drinking and job-loss fears aren't related! I don't think Irish people are that pre-occupied with job-perk type stuff. As long as you don't use it as friendship collateral. Or bait.

I can't imagine not being scared about how I look. Though there are effortlessly stylish and beautiful people out there alright, I doubt we're alone in that fear!

Don't even get me started on ageing. And achievement.

I think the only answer is to give ourselves a kick up the arse and just sort it out.
