There was a young blogger called Milan,
Who said "write a poem if you can",
So I started a verse,
and then I did curse,
"my poem is so bad it'll pan".
Ta daa!

Inside my head the weather has its way,
Sometimes storm clouds roll unbidden through the day,
Sometimes bright unbroken sunshine,
Sometimes I am felled by a single bolt of lightning.

There once was a girl in Knocklyon
Whose blogging was not very fine
She sat down at home
To try write a poem
Bout anything that simply might rhyme.
I wanted to write a rant-poem about how much I hate word verification but what rhymes with that! LOL

Word Verification
I view with Trepidation
Never sure whether Sqwtrfg
Or PzxTrgf are what Google require
I worry,
I squint,
I type with care
At least we are protected
Hacker Robots haven't a prayer...
With apologies for the crapness

I have to agree about Word Verification.
It causes me nothing but untold frustration.
I vote turn it off, without hestitation.
I'd love to do better, but I'm wasting my time:
If my language was Italian I'd have more multi-syllabic rhyme.
Not to mention big brown eyes and a Figure...

There lived a certain man in russia long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the Bible like a preacher
Full of ecstacy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher
Women would desire
Ra ra rasputin
Lover of the russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra ra rasputin
Russias greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on
(ok, how many of you started singing along?)

Your many efforts have me melting with happy pride
Who the winner is, I cannot decide
What with satire, limericks and alliteration,
rhyme, repetition & contemplation
metaphor and language,
pacing & word challenge,
The use of so many poetic devices
despite us all being such novices
Makes me feel like boasting
about this successful posting
But I'm most happy that this artform
Can still, in this age, perform

Poetry in my mind should rhyme
should be fluid and sublime
full of sweet words
about animals and birds
but these days the poets
who think they all know know it
dont rhyme at all
from beginning to fall
they just end them with some shitty deep meaning
sentiment that only they understand themselves.
SL - I knew you were going to do that and I'm glad you did.
ReplyDeleteI love 49£s.
By the way, I didn't really mean for the double spacing in my last poem, it's a bit emphatic. SL - if you could take it out i'd be very happy.
