Sweet 16!

My baby turned 16 last Saturday. That's 16 years ago since she was born on the feast day of the Immaculate Conception (the irony!) It now means she can get married with parental permission, drive certain construction machinery, can leave school, smoke cigarettes, drive a moped, but can't drink or vote. She's interested in none of the above and I'm hoping it'll stay that way for a while at least.

Wow to be 16 again and know it all......What one piece of advice would you like to have been given at 16? Would you have listened anyway?

(Did they raise the legal smoking age to 18?)

  1. Yep, can't buy cigarettes till you are 18 now! I'd tell her what I tell my own wee ones, believe in your dreams no matter how crazy they seem to everyone else, embrace the world and travel as much as yo can. (oh and don't do drugs, drugs are baaad!)

  2. Oh, god I think I'd have to write a whole post on that one. I'd give a lot to go back and whisper in my on ear. But I'll be saying the same thing in nother 16 years, I'm sure. Depressing!

  3. The sooner you get past the living life to appear cool stage, the better.

  4. I would say - dont ever EVER do drugs, be kind, work hard in school (if you dont you'll regret it when your older) and try not to care what other people think of you - your own opinion of yourself matters more than anyone elses.

  5. I would simply say Teenage girls are evil - that applies to both male and female 16 year olds.
