Just Can't Get Enough

A friend used a Casablanca quote on a mailing list I read, and I realized there are probably others who share a particular obsessive trait I have.

There are some films I could watch over and over again and never, ever get tired of them. Those around me, however, would probably be quite happy if they didn't have to sit through some of them ever again.

My list, in the rough order of most-obsessed to moderately-obsessed:

The Matrix
Sleepless in Seattle
My Fair Lady
Brief Encounter
To Kill A Mockingbird
Brokeback Mountain

I wonder which I've forgotten?

  1. Jeeze, Tib. Not even The Matrix? Why not?

    atreus - Sleepless in Seattle?

I nominate Atticus Finch for best father in literature. Magic story.

    I'd have to say:
    Withnail and I
    My Fair Lady
    Fifth Element
    Lost Boys
    Ghost Busters
    Blues Brothers, of course

spring to mind first and foremost, but there's so many more.

  2. Films to watch again and again are usually comedies, action, rom coms or period dramas. Hence, Die Hard, You've got Mail, Romeo & Juliet, Zoolander and Pride and Prejudice I've seen tons of times. Matrix i've seen 40 times, but not in a few years. Thought Brokeback was great but would never watch it again.

  3. I've been thinking about this all day realizing (again) how hard it is to put such a list together. To me the answer is: it depends. On mood, company, place etc. However a list needs to be written! (You've all seen Hi-Fidelity I trust, speaking of lists?!)

So here is today's top-ten-list: Movies I'll gladly keep watching over and over again

    The Godfather (1 & 2)
    Pink Floyd the Wall
    Brazil (Terri Gilliam)
    Help! (The Beatles)
    The Matrix
    The Gladiator
    Apocalyps now
    The Graduate
    Blade runner
    Fight Club

...and Oh, there are so many! Damn. I knew I shouldn't have started this list.

  4. LOL Jo... Did I ever fool you into believing I am a girly person? My bad. Will blog on that. :)

  5. Meant to do my list, was going to do it with Youtube clips! It's in my "to do" list in my phone. Genuinely! Sorry. Bit late now.

  6. What is that saying again:
    - Overachievers catches the early bird? No, that's not it...
    - Overachievers delivers on time? No, that's not it...

Sorry SL - I'm just looking forward to seeing everybody posting on this one, so I'll sit back and wait some more.
