Dilemma

Two of my all time favourite albums are being re-released, digitally remastered, with a few extra tunes added.

These albums came out in 1989/1990 but as I've been listening to them continuously for two decades, they don't feel like albums from the past. The Van one in particular, I haven't gone a month or two without listening to. I listened to it last night and today - and that was before I came across the news of its re-release.

My question is, should I buy the new versions of these albums given I love the old ones so much. Will it spoil my memory of them? Or will it be good to hear the remastered sounds and the new tracks?

I can't decide.

  1. Aw, I LOVE Room to Roam! I only had it on tape, though, so I'd be going for the remastered version in a flah, mine went wobbly.

I say get them. You can always for backto the old ones if you don't like the new ones.

  2. (shame) I don't know either album but I would say get the new ones if you love them that much - they have extra songs and they may be even better.

You never know what you're missing till you give them a go.

  3. I just had to comment on one of milans posts, I could not let this go!

Both albums are shit, get the remastered ones then come out to mine this weekend and I will gladly burn both versions for you.

Please for the love god, do this for Ireland and your pride!

  4. Can't believe my would be poor taste in music inspired Shan to come out. Van and Waterboys are small scale compared to some of the shite music I like.

  5. Duh. It took me minutes to figure out wtf Shan was on about. Why would he burn records Milan already have? But he meant BURN. What a shame. Should go for the micro or something more creative.

Don't think I've heard either of them, but the bonus tracks should be worth the money since you like them so much. I say go for it Milan.

  6. Hm. I would leave a sarcastic comment here but I own the Van one too.
