I really liked Dolly's post below about the book she used to carry around that her friend's would write, draw or whatever in. Made me think with my love of analog things (sorry about the slowness of the first letter - it turned out to be 16 pages long) and the original origin story of this group that centres around just such a book.
I'd gladly finance a sturdy hardback notebook to be circulated among us in the post. Do as you will with a page or two and then pass it on to the next person on the list in the post. Any takers? Or is this just another of my nonsense flights of fancy?

Ah, Someone, I can honestly say I think that's a beautiful idea! Do it.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. :)
I'll do it but expect there to be crap in it when you get it back.
ReplyDeleteWhat Jo said SL! Lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteSounds good, just make sure I am passing on to Shan. Posting + Idiot - never gonna happen, unless you want the book recirculating in 2011.
ReplyDeleteI saw that yaya sisterhood movie recently....
ReplyDeleteIt pains me to say it but it was excellent.
Yay! Great Idea....I warn you I will put photos in it! Oh and i love the first impression things...you know when I met so and so I thought....has to be anon though
ReplyDeleteYa-Ya sisterhood - I read the books - Jesus, intense. ONe of those books I couldn't get out of my head for ages. Very good.I wonder if the film pulled the punches - was the child beating scene in it? Not so girlie.
ReplyDeleteThe beating scene was there all right, not too graphic or intense but still quite disturbing.
ReplyDeleteThe book was much better than the film...having said that I did like the film a lot! Jo how can you not have seen it?
ReplyDeleteOh we should start a club like that.... ?
I've no idea what this ya ya stuff is about that yiz are talking about. But I do of course love the book idea. It would be great. I've no problem people having my address, or would it be sent back to SL each time. I love that idea.
ReplyDeleteTib - I hope you're not talking literally.
Suppose I am on for it too cause I dont wanna be an outsider!
ReplyDeleteYou could be the official Outsider, and send it postcards...
ReplyDeleteHey, if we did this and it was good, do you think we could publish it and flog it to our 10 thousand strong readership?
ReplyDeleteRight so. Will sort the next time I'm in Easons and terms and conditions to follow.
ReplyDeleteBlank pages, not lined. Maybe a nice Paperchase one. Something with a bit of gold and rich colour on. A4.
ReplyDeleteUnless you think plain is more in keeping with the project, and you can stick the pĂșnts on.
I loved the ya-ya sisterhood books! My friends always poke fun at my crappy taste in reading materials, looks like I have found some like minded souls here. Trashy crime by Martina Cole anyone? LOVE IT
ReplyDeleteExcuse me, voodoo lady, there's nothing crappy about the Ya-Ya siterhood, is there? It's hardly Maeve Binchy!
ReplyDeleteOh My! What a landslide of comments set off. Fantastic idea.
ReplyDeleteRun, SL. Run!
Another reason for my booking a trip to come over to the green island. To do my stuff in the book. AND visiting Shan & Paula's house. Yay!
(No, not ya ya, but Yay. Enough with the drinking, crazy, yet loveable women now. :)
I figure that if I don't come over, then someone (the generic form, not to be confused with Someone) would have to spend a small fortune shipping the book over to me. And once in Sweden, I feel there would be a great risk that I didn't want to let it go...
