Money Money Money

Next time you are in the queue at the ATM and the person ahead of you has had three goes trying to access their cash, forgotten their pin, it's starting to rain and you are about to miss your bus, don't complain. It could be worse.

Here's a photo of the queue for the ATM which I took at Oxygen last weekend.

And it goes on........
and on........

  1. I would rather sit and beg for change than queue there.

  2. And there were only 2 bank machines. The queue was like that all weekend.

I am so glad I brought money with me.

  3. I was acutally in that queu as my wallte got robbed so a friend lent me his bank card to get some money out for myself. While i was waiting a nice guy in front of me was giving me jameson and it took so long that when i got to the top of the queue i had forgotten my friends pin and had no phone to call him!!!!! i did find another atm in the over by the dance area with no queue later in the day when he was with me. 2 hours of my life wasted!!!!

  4. @Anon 2 hours? Ouch! I didn't think there'd be a bank machine there at all, so I guess for some people it may have been a blessing to have it (queue or no queue).

  7. Foolish people :-/ sure what would you be needing money for at Oxegen at all? 'Twas all about the music, surely?

I tend to suffer the worst luck at ATMs when in a rush - normally the person ahead of me seems intent on mortgage application or some such. I think people with bank cards should be given (a) IQ tests and (b) only a set amount of time to complete your transaction before your account starts getting docked money and donated to charity. That'll teach you to check your balance, key in 40, find out it only gives 50s but key in 60 anyways next time etc etc.

  8. You may have seen me as one of the pricks that walked by with a big smirk.

Those queues are always b*stards, everyone knows that.

  9. Yep, I was thrilled I'd brought a decent amount of cash with me. I knew there'd be ATMs so I had pondered whether or not it would be safer to bring less and use the machine. Think I made the right call. I'd have gone hungry and thirsty all day rather than spend 2 hours in that queue.
Can you imagine how much money Ulster Bank or whoever runs those machines makes? I'd be prettty confident there must be at least a 2 euro charge for each transaction.
